Frequently Asked Questions

Everything founders and investors need to know about NewPitch — how it works, what it costs, who can apply, and how the investor panel operates.

About the Platform

How does NewPitch work?

NewPitch connects pre-screened early-stage founders with vetted angel investors through a live structured pitch session called The Pitch. Founders apply online, are reviewed by the NewPitch team, and if selected, are matched to an upcoming session. Each session runs for 90 minutes on Zoom. Three founders present in sequence, each allocated 30 minutes: a 10-minute presentation followed by 20 minutes of Q&A with a panel of up to ten active angel investors. After the session, investors receive a written summary of each business with direct founder contact details and decide whether to reach out.

How do I apply to pitch on NewPitch?

Founders apply through the NewPitch platform using a five-step online application form. The form covers the business overview, funding stage, sector, funding ask, and supporting documents. Once submitted, the NewPitch team reviews every application and selects founders based on readiness, sector fit, and the composition of the upcoming investor panel. Selected founders are notified and matched to a session of The Pitch. There is no upfront fee to apply.

How much does NewPitch cost?

There is no upfront fee to pitch on NewPitch. Fees are success-only: a 5% commission plus a £499 administration fee, charged only when a founder successfully raises investment from an investor introduced through the platform. No investment means no cost. Optional preparation services, including pitch deck creation, financial modelling, and practice sessions, are available separately. These are entirely optional and have no bearing on application outcomes.

What happens after I pitch?

Within 48 hours of each session, NewPitch sends every investor on the panel a written summary of each business along with the founder's direct contact details. Investors who are interested make contact directly. NewPitch does not participate in conversations or negotiations after the introduction is made. Any investment completed within 24 months of the pitch session falls within the commission window, at which point the 5% fee plus £499 administration charge applies.

Is NewPitch regulated?

NewPitch operates as an introducer only. It does not provide financial advice, investment advice, or any regulated financial service under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. It does not recommend investments or participate in deals after an introduction is made. All investors on the panel certify as sophisticated investors or high net worth individuals before receiving any founder materials, satisfying the UK financial promotion exemption requirements. NewPitch has taken legal advice on its regulatory position and operates within the introducer perimeter under FSMA.

Who are the investors on the panel?

The NewPitch investor panel is invitation-only and capped at 50 founding members. Every investor is vetted before joining and must certify as a sophisticated investor or high net worth individual under UK financial promotion rules. Investors are matched to sessions based on their declared sector interests and receive founder materials 48 hours before each session. Investor identities are never shared with founders unless the investor chooses to make direct contact after a session.

About the Process

How long does the pitch session last?

Each session of The Pitch runs for 90 minutes. Three founders present in sequence, each allocated 30 minutes: a 10-minute presentation followed by 20 minutes of Q&A from the investor panel. Sessions are held live on Zoom and are not recorded.

How many founders pitch per session?

Three founders present at each session of The Pitch. Each founder is individually pre-screened and selected by the NewPitch team before being matched to a session. Founders do not compete against each other. Each business is presented independently to the full investor panel.

How many investors will I pitch to?

Each session of The Pitch includes a panel of up to ten active angel investors. Every investor has been vetted by NewPitch and matched to the session based on sector interests. After the session, founders receive direct contact details for any investor who chooses to reach out.

What format does the pitch take?

The Pitch is a live session held on Zoom. Each founder presents for 10 minutes using their own pitch deck, followed by 20 minutes of direct Q&A from the investor panel. Founders receive session guidelines and preparation support from NewPitch in advance. The format gives investors sufficient time to evaluate each business seriously and gives founders a genuine opportunity to communicate their proposition clearly and answer challenging questions.

When does NewPitch take its commission?

NewPitch's commission is success-only. A 5% fee plus £499 administration charge applies only when a founder successfully completes investment from an investor introduced through the platform, within 24 months of the pitch session. There is no fee if no investment is made. The commission is paid by the founder, not the investor.

About Eligibility

What stage does my startup need to be at?

NewPitch works with pre-seed and seed stage founders. There is no strict revenue requirement. Applicants are expected to have a clearly defined business model, a credible founding team, and a specific funding ask. Founders are screened before being accepted to ensure they are genuinely ready to pitch to active investors. Idea-stage businesses without a product, traction, or any commercial validation are not suitable for the platform at this stage.

What sectors does NewPitch work with?

NewPitch works with early-stage founders across consumer, technology, health, retail, and sustainability sectors, among others. Founders are matched to sessions where the investor panel has relevant sector interests, so sector fit is considered during the screening and matching process. As the platform scales, sector-specific sessions will match founders and investors with greater precision.

Do I need a pitch deck to apply?

A pitch deck is not required to submit an application. Founders selected for a session of The Pitch will need one ready before their session date. NewPitch offers optional pitch deck creation services for founders who need support, and selected founders without a deck will be guided through the preparation process before pitching.

Investor Questions

How do investors join the NewPitch panel?

The NewPitch investor panel is invitation-only. Investors are vetted by the NewPitch team before being granted access and must certify as a sophisticated investor or high net worth individual under UK financial promotion rules. The founding panel is capped at 50 members. Investors interested in joining can express interest through the NewPitch platform. There is no fee to join. Founding panel members access NewPitch free for life.

What is a sophisticated investor?

A sophisticated investor, as defined under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and the Financial Promotion Order 2005, is an individual who meets at least one of the following criteria:

  1. They have made more than one investment in an unlisted company in the past two years
  2. They work, or have worked in the past two years, in a professional capacity in the private equity sector or in the provision of finance for small and medium enterprises
  3. They are currently, or have been in the past two years, a director of a company with an annual turnover of at least £1 million
  4. They are a member of a network or syndicate of business angels and have been so for at least six months

Sophisticated investor status allows individuals to receive financial promotions relating to unlisted investments that would otherwise be restricted under UK law.

How does NewPitch protect investor identity?

Investor identities are never shared with founders during or before a session of The Pitch. Founders are not told who will be on the panel in advance. After each session, NewPitch shares founder contact details with investors. Investors retain full control over whether to make contact. An investor's identity is only revealed if they choose to reach out to a founder directly.
